Step inside.
The hamsters are expecting you.
The San Bruno Amateur Radio Club is more than a monthly meeting. Members get their own online clubhouse: a license course, a logbook, Morse code games, a swap shop and a lot of friendly hams.
Grab some popcorn. The tour's about to start.
Here's what's behind the door ↓
Our hamsters went back to school. You can too.
Become an Extra without becoming extra-stressed.
Our own online course takes you from General to Amateur Extra one bite-size stage at a time: about 20 minutes a day, starting with the fun stuff like satellites, contests and digital modes.
- Every question explained on an illustrated card
- A quiz for each group, and a second chance on anything you miss
- Full practice exams that track your scores
- Nobody gets stuck: any score moves you forward
Log it like you mean it.
Our hamster carves his call sign into a tree. You can just type yours.
A station log built for speed. Type a call sign and it tells you instantly whether you've worked them before, and whether they're a new state or country.
- Quick keyboard entry, live or after the fact
- POTA spots to hunt from, plus contest serial numbers
- A map of everywhere you've reached, with stats and awards
- ADIF import and export, so your log goes where you go
-.-. --- -- . .--. .-.. .- -.--
(That's "come play." Don't worry, we'll teach you.)
Learn Morse code from scratch, or dust off the speed you had back in the day. Listen and copy, send on an on-screen key, play games, and climb the club ladder.
- Lessons that add one letter at a time
- Send with a straight key or iambic keyer, right on screen
- Live QSO rooms to practice with other members
- The original text messaging. No thumbs required.
One ham's junk is another ham's "Ooh, is that a Vibroplex?"
Where gear finds its next shack.
Buy, sell and trade with local hams you can actually meet in person. Post a listing in a minute, photos and all, and renew it with one click.
- Rigs, antennas, keys, coax and the stuff you didn't know you needed
- Local members: no shipping, no strangers
- A friendly reminder before your listing expires
Finally, faces to go with the call signs.
Turns out "that guy who's always on the repeater" has a name.
See who's in the club, what license they hold, where they're from, and a peek at their shack. You decide how much of yours to share.
- Sort by name, call sign, license class or city
- Find the club officers fast
- Share as much or as little as you like
"Good evening, this is…"
Every Monday at 7:30 PM Pacific. Rain or shine. (It's San Bruno, so mostly fog.)
Check in, catch up, and when you're ready, take a turn as net control. Members can sign up for an open date, follow the script, and browse past net logs.
- Check in right from the website during a live net
- Sign up for a turn at net control
- The script and past logs, all in one place
Get your license with us. Free.
No experience needed. No Morse code required. Hamsters optional.
Every January we teach an in-person Technician license class in San Bruno: eight friendly evenings that take you from "what's a repeater?" to passing your FCC exam. The class, the study guides and the practice materials are all free.
- Real instructors, real radios, and plenty of time for questions
- Illustrated study guides for every topic on the exam
- An online version of the class is on the way, so get on the list and we'll let you know
- Pass your exam and you'll be on the air the same week
Signing up puts you on our class list. We'll email you when the next class (or the online course) opens. No cost, no obligation.
And a few more rooms

Approach with a radio. Considered extremely friendly.
Membership is just $25 a year, or $35 for every licensed ham in your household.
That's less than a good coax connector. SBARC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your dues go right back into the club, the classes and our community. Not licensed yet? You're welcome too, and our free January Technician class is the perfect starting line.

Get in the game.
The stands are full of hams. There's a seat with your name on it.
The "peek" screens use made-up sample data. No real hams were exposed in the making of this tour.
